The Great Singapore Heatwave
Have you noticed how hot it has been lately?
The sun feels extra strong, the air feels warm even in the shade and stepping outside can feel like walking into a giant oven.
In Singapore, we are used to warm weather but some days feel even hotter than usual.
You might see people:
fanning themselves
looking for shade
holding cold drinks
or heading straight for air-conditioning
Children find their own ways to cope too.
Some stay indoors with books or games.
Some enjoy cold treats like ice cream.
And some look for water—running taps, splash parks or even just a cool shower.
Even the animals slow down. Birds rest quietly and pets find the coolest spot in the house to lie down.
But the heat also reminds us of something important.
To drink more water.
To rest when needed.
And to take care of ourselves and each other.
Because while the sun may be strong, we can always find ways to stay cool.
And sometimes, the best part of a hot day is that first cold sip of water or ice cream.
Did You Know?
Singapore’s weather can feel hotter than it actually is because of humidity - the moisture in the air which makes it harder for sweat to cool our bodies.
