The Race to the Canteen

Have you ever noticed what happens the moment the bell rings?

Chairs move. Bags zip and suddenly everyone is heading in the same direction.

The school canteen.

Some walk quickly. Some run. Some already know exactly what they want.
“Chicken rice!”
“Noodles!”
“Drink first!”

At the stalls, there are lines forming in seconds. Friends stand together, chatting while waiting, deciding what to order, sometimes changing their minds at the last moment.

There is something special about the canteen. It is not just about food.

It is where friends gather, where stories are shared and where laughter fills the air between bites. Even the simplest meal somehow tastes better when you are sitting with friends.

And just as quickly as it began, recess ends. Trays are cleared, hands are wiped and everyone heads back - just a little happier than before.

Because sometimes, the best part of the school day is not in the classroom.

It is right there in the canteen.
