The Shoes Outside the Door

Have you ever walked along a corridor and noticed something quietly waiting outside each home?

Shoes.

Big ones, small ones, bright ones, worn ones, all lined up neatly by the door. Some are placed side by side. Others are slightly scattered, as if someone just stepped out in a hurry.

Each pair tells a little story. School shoes waiting for the next morning. Slippers ready for a quick trip downstairs. Sandals that have travelled through parks, playgrounds and busy streets.

In many homes, shoes are left outside before stepping in. It keeps the inside clean and comfortable. But it also creates a small, familiar scene along the corridor - one that feels lived-in and warm.

If you look closely, you might even guess who lives there. A tiny pair might belong to a child. Larger ones to parents or grandparents. Sometimes, there is even a pair set aside for visitors.

It is a simple habit, but it says something about everyday life—quiet, thoughtful and shared.
